Covid-19 Vaccination Programme is underway at Waters Green
Friday 8th January saw the launch of the Covid-19 vaccination programme at Waters Green Medical Centre. We have now delivered over 1000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to some of our most at-risk patients in Macclesfield and also begun frontline staff vaccinations.
Our clinic on Friday was a joint effort across all our practices, and we couldn’t have done it without the phenomenal support of our staff and our 18 volunteers, who gave up their time on Friday to help keep our patients safe.
We have also kicked off our Care Home Vaccination Programme, completing our first care home on Friday. Roll out to the rest of our care homes is continuing over the next couple of weeks.
Feedback following the vaccination clinic has been amazing, it was fantastic to hear how safe people felt visiting the medical centre for their vaccination, how easy they found the whole process, and how friendly our staff and volunteers were. It was more than worth the effort and sleepless nights!
And best of all, we have provided some much needed protection to some of our most vulnerable patients in the local community. It is incredible to think of the lives that have been saved so far with the roll out of the vaccination programme, and the difference that has been made in terms of the long-term effects of Covid-19. Nothing demonstrates this more than the following quote:
“For every 20 vaccines we give in a care home, one life is saved. And for every 160 vaccines that we give to our over 80s, one life is saved.”
Dr Nikita Kanani – Director of Primary Care, NHS England.
We want to share a huge thank you to everyone involved on Friday and all our patients who attended for their vaccine. We are now looking forward to the next delivery of vaccines and planning for our next clinic!
