Ageing Well Workshop

What is the Macclesfield
Ageing Well Workshop?

The workshop has been set up in conjunction with your GP practice to improve your general health and wellbeing in support of healthy ageing. As part of the workshop you will be introduced to some of the Ageing Well Team and have an opportunity to meet other people from the local community. You will also be able to access services, and volunteering opportunities, offered by different charities and societies that are based in Macclesfield.

Why have I been invited?

The workshops have been developed to meet a number of different needs, and will allow us to provide information and support to you in a relaxed and informal group setting. Your GP feels this will be of great benefit to you.

When and where is the workshop held?

You will receive a letter to advise the date and time of your workshop appointment. The workshop is held every month at Waters Green Medical Centre on the fourth floor. After the workshop, you will also have the opportunity to attend our “information marketplace” event, held in the Atrium on the second floor.

What will happen at the workshop?

The workshop will involve 6 group sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of Ageing Well. In each session there will be a short presentation by a professional in this area, followed by a chance to ask any questions you might have. Refreshments will also be provided.

What is the marketplace?

The “information marketplace” will be held in the Atrium on the second floor, where your GP practice is based after your workshop sessions. Here, you will have an opportunity to meet different charities and groups that may be of interest to you, many of which run events within Macclesfield. There will also be information on how you can get more involved through volunteering in the community.

We are hoping that the marketplace will provide an easier way to access the excellent societies and events that Macclesfield has to offer.

What will I get out of attending the workshop?

We are hoping you will leave the workshop with the following:

  • An increased knowledge of the services and support offered within the local community, and how to access these and become more involved.
  • Information and help on maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle
  • Having had the opportunity to meet with the Ageing Well Team, and also people from the local community in similar situations to you.
  • Information on accessing the support available for carers.
  • An improved experience of your GP practice.

How can I contact you?

We look forward to meeting you at one of our workshop events, however if you are unable to make this date or have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Ageing Well Coordinator, Victoria Probert:

Email: victoria.probert1@nhs.net

What happens next?

After the workshop event, you will be contacted by a member of the team to see how you are getting on and to answer any questions you might have.

You will be asked for your feedback on the workshop before you leave, but if you do have any comments afterwards please don’t hesitate to contact Victoria directly. We would love to hear any comments or suggestions you have as these will help us in shaping our service in the future.
